Welcome to Trex Tutoring services!
We hope you enjoy watching your child’s academic progress as they receive instruction.
A one hour refundable deposit is required for EACH student and is due the first session. The deposit is a backup in case of nonpayment. You are always paid one session in advance. Most parents use their deposit to cover their final session. A new deposit would be required to restart if ever used. If tutoring stopped abruptly without a final session, the unused deposit would be refunded in full, at your request, within 30 days. Upon finishing tutoring, deposits will be surrendered and retained after 30 days if a refund is not requested within that time. Deposits may take a few days to be refunded once requested.
There is no service contract; services can be terminated by the provider or the parent at any time for any reason, explained or unexplained.
Below you'll find further information about our services and policies. We think you'll find a degree of freedom in your tutoring that you will not find in many other services. We want to provide tutoring without hassles, giving you convenient, more affordable tutoring.
Appointments:
Tutoring schedules are based on the tutor’s availability and yours.
It is important to schedule regular weekly sessions. Based on our experience, two or more sessions per week is best for improvement and recall.
If you must cancel an appointment, please give a minimum 3 hour notice so that the tutor can make alternative plans. IMPORTANT: If an appointment is cancelled less than 120 minutes (2 hrs) before the scheduled time, the regular hourly fee will be charged (many services require a 24 hr notice). Likewise, if the tutor comes to your home and no one is there, the regular hourly fee will be assessed because of a no-show. The same applies for virtual sessions.
If you are late to a scheduled appointment, the amount of time you are late is subtracted from the scheduled slot of time. If in person, tutors will leave the premises after waiting 20 min if not hearing from you, making the session a no-show (deposit will be used). Tutors are on an appointment-based schedule and usually cannot stay later than their appointed time. The same applies for virtual sessions.
If services are outside of the home, a parent drops off their child, and is late picking them up, that extra time is charged in increments of 15 min of their rate. Please be on time to pick up your child. Tutors do not want to leave a minor child unattended if they must go.
Services are year-round (even during holiday/summer breaks) and run 7 days a week.
Consistent weekly appointments will help you keep your original, convenient scheduled time. Sessions may be inconsistent (i.e. having the tutor come only when needed, such as only before a test), but understand that your appointment times (and tutors) may vary because they will eventually be booked by more consistent students...
Virtual Tutoring:
Student must have appropriate technology: a laptop with a webcam (touchscreen preferred) or a large tablet, stylus, and ability to download and use Zoom application (or other applications agreed upon between student and tutor). Free training with Zoom is available if needed.
In-home Environment:
There must be an adult (18+) in the home during the entire session.
The home environment must be conducive to learning. The meeting area must be open, like a dining room or kitchen table. Tutors are not allowed to work with children in closed rooms, like bedrooms. A cleared table and chairs must be available. School supplies need to be on hand. The student should get in the habit of having all school work and books ready to go. Please keep food and drinks off the table because they tend to be very distracting. TVs, stereos, and computers, etc. should not be audible in the tutoring area. Please try to keep room traffic, talking, and phone calls to a bare minimum. Try not to allow siblings and pets near the tutoring area. If possible, please do not interrupt the tutoring session or even be present in the immediate area. Please do not interject during tutoring. Comments and suggestions need to be made prior to, or after, the session. It is important that your child is able to concentrate well for them to make good use of paid tutoring time.
PLEASE, NO CELLPHONES or HEADPHONES ALLOWED AT THE TABLE.
Parent Signature Form: Most tutors will bring a Parent Signature Form with them for you to review and sign each session. If not, you may request it (recommended). This helps to avoid any discrepancies between performed tutoring and billing. Please review the session date and length BEFORE signing. If it is not filled in, have the tutor complete it first, and then sign. You may even want to take a pic of the form for your records. If you have signed the form, you are agreeing that a session of that length was performed on that date. These forms are used for your balance/billing records. Tutors will document virtual sessions.
Tutors:
All tutors are experienced and educated with references, credential checks, and background checks before they ever meet with a student. Most tutors have at least a Bachelor's degree and some are certified teachers. An occasional exception is made for high level math/science senior level college students because of high demand and high level high school students for families needing a more affordable alternative.
If you are assigned a tutor who you do not believe is a good fit, please contact us so we can send an alternate.
Stay informed on the progress of your child by conversing with your tutor at the end of (but within) the session time slot.
Please do not discuss any financials (your rate, their pay rate, billing issues, discounts, etc.) with servicing tutors. Tutors do not deal with any financials. Tutors have agreed to a previous pay rate, as have clients. Any questions regarding financial matters are to be asked of management at (954) 547-0992. Students that tutors obtain through the services of Trex Tutoring are handled through Trex Tutoring. Similarly, tutors that are assigned to you are in agreement to handle your services through Trex Tutoring. Tutors do not accept any form of direct payment. See the "Payments" tab for payment options and directions.
Problems/Issues:
If a problem arises, please call (954) 547-0992 for help. We will do our best to make sure you are satisfied with the service. Tutors DO NOT handle ANY grievances or payment issues; please refer those questions to the number above.
We are a small business offering private tutoring services by linking tutors and students. We consider ourselves an affordable tutoring service and try to keep rates low while providing competent tutors. Some private tutors cost $75/hr and up. Commercial in-home tutoring averages $59/hr in South Florida. Commercial in-center tutoring is usually $45-70/hr + testing fee, and often not 1-on-1. Helping you/your children at a reasonable, more affordable rate is our passion!
Whether you choose us to help or not, get tutoring service from somewhere if you/your child need it. There is nothing else like one-on-one tutoring to get the necessary attention to increase academic performance! Over and over again we see instant, positive changes in self-confidence when a student knows a private tutor is there to help them.
We look forward to helping your family reach their academic goals!
